Pro Duffer Foster Kidd Resolution

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout…so shall My word be ….it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose.    Isaiah 55: 10-11

As a man went out to sow grain, he came to a path. He did not sow on the path because the birds would eat the seed. Farther along, he skipped over an area with many stones and little chance for good yield. Another spot was unsuitable because weeds were already growing that might chock out the grain. However, in the clear, fertile areas of land he sowed generously and received a good harvest.

This is the way some people would interpret the parable of the Sower in Matthew. They cannot see committing resources in places that might be slow to respond. But according to the parable as Jesus told it, we are to sow the seed of good work and service everywhere.

Whether the seed of our effort will grow well, poorly, or not at all is not for us to determine. Sometimes I’ve wondered if my money, time and talent were being used well when I was doing something in obedience to GOD, but it is not for me to judge. If God gives us an opportunity, our job is to sow, not analyze the soil.

O God, help us to heed your voice and sow your word of love, grace and encouragement at each opportunity we encounter.

 We are giving an opportunity to be the best we can be and Foster took advantage at every turn. You see. The paradox is.. we are sad to know he is gone from us, but we are glad that he has gone to a better place and we are here to celebrate the time he spent with us. We would not have the time for all the stories about how Foster impacted our lives. Because he did so much to bring out the best in me, our members and organization we serve. 

He was the founding member of the Pro Duffers Southwest Chapter and its President for 2 terms. He was the Pro Duffers USA National President. And held other National Offices. He spurred innovation in the operation of the club from a national and local level. He was the President and brainchild of the North Texas Junior Golf and Education Foundation. His inspiration motivated us to move forward with the First Tee Program. He guided us through the acquisition of property and was instrumental in acquiring city and government helps on this project.  His goal was to sow seeds of the golf experience and the game he loved. To give all children of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game we love. His passing motivates me and should motivate all of us to carry on in his name. Thank you Foster, for being my friend, a friend to children, a friend to the community and a mentor and role model to us all. Thank you for introducing me and all of us to a life of giving unto others.
